Don’t count calories, count bites!

There is a new device on the market that counts your every bite during your meal. The “Bite Counter” is designed as a wristlet so you can take it everywhere you go from the restaurants to the ball parks. All you have to do is press the button before you start eating and press it again when you finish your meal. It will count how many bites you have taken and estimate the number of calories you have eaten. It is supposedly over 90% accurate during their lab tests.

Another cool feature is that it allows you to press how many bites you want to limit yourself for every meal. The device will sound an alarm for every bite that goes over the limit. It may sound annoying, but it could stop you from over indulging your food.

Now, are you ready to hear the price? It is $799—do you think it is worth it?

I think counting bites is a better idea than counting calories. Mainly because it’s a lot less effort, so more people are likely to stick with it for a longer period of time. And I think the wristwatch is a nice idea because you don’t have to worry about counting the bites yourself. You can concentrate on your meal and enjoy each bite until the wrist starts to sound an alarm from going over the number of bites you wanted to limit yourself to. But for that price, I don’t think anyone who needs it is going to buy it.
